About Robert Rankin
The Father of Far-Fetched Fiction
Robert is the author of 30 fantasy/humour novels, and is still going strong! He started writing in the late 1970's, and his books are a mixture of science fiction, fantasy, the occult, urban legens, running gags, metafiction, steampunk and outrageous characters. The majority of his books are set in either Brentford (and the surrounding area) or Brighton. Many of his characters appear in multiple books, either as main characters or as cameos. Robert tends to write trilogies or multi-book stories, The Brightonomicon being a part of one such series (The Brentford Trilogy - 8 books and counting!) In recent years his work has become widely recognised and followed throughout the world...the US in particular falling in love with his teo Eddie The Bear novels (The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse and The Toyminator). Robert has a vibrant fan following, through the fan club SproutLore, and he is widely known for his constant and enthusiastic interaction with the fans, via his website forum, or the many events he attends every year.
